We worked with the Upper Gwydir Landcare Association and landholders in the Bingara and Warialda area to monitor the vegetation communities where the vulnerable western population of brush Turkeys (Alectura lathamii) live. We surveyed over 40 brush turkey mounds, both active and inactive, to find out where the turkeys usually live. We recommended management activities to protect and enhance this population. The project included two landholder workshops and produced a report for participating landholders.
