Participatory Monitoring
Participatory monitoring involves the people involved in the project in the monitoring. It starts with setting goals and expected outcomes as a group. Participants continuously monitor their own project and tweak their management based on the results. Participatory monitoring not only delivers better projects; it also builds skills and knowledge among the participants. Stringybark Ecological can help you design a participatory monitoring program and facilitate and train participants to undertake the monitoring. This type of monitoring uses non-specialised methods such as photo-point monitoring, indicator species and permanent plots. Participants can be trained in a number of simple, repeatable methods as part of the initial monitoring. Follow-up monitoring can be undertaken by project participants and the results can be analysed and evaluated in a facilitated group workshop.
